The Research Office at Birkbeck provides administrative, financial and support services relating to externally funded research grants and contracts, and consultancy activities.
We are seeking to appoint a Research Finance Manager to join the recently restructured Research Office and manage the Post Award team. This newly created role will be responsible for managing and developing the Post Award team and will play an active part in helping shape internal policy and procedures to respond to the ever changing research funding environment.
The successful candidate will have knowledge and experience of research financial administration in the UK Higher Education sector, including working with the major research funding bodies. They will have excellent interpersonal skills and have a track record of managing and developing staff. They should be able to interpret complex financial information and communicate financial information to non-specialists in a clear and concise manner.
It is desirable that candidates have experience of delivering change projects, have formal financial training and have good working knowledge of the Business World finance system, although that is not essential.
Please note: candidates need to demonstrate competence or significant potential in all areas.
Remuneration
Grade 8 of the College’s London Pay Scale which is £44,515 rising incrementally to £53,854 per annum.
The salary quoted is on the College’s London Pay Scale which includes a consolidated Weighting/Allowance which applies only to staff whose normal contractual place of work is in the Greater London area.
