About us

Challenging, interesting and constantly changing, the University of Derby is an extraordinary place to learn and an incredibly rewarding place to work.

Financially strong and seriously ambitious we offer our employees a family-friendly, rewarding career with lots of opportunities to progress.

About the Role

The Student Records and Awards Manager is responsible for dynamically leading the Student Records and Awards Office and Research Office which is a division of the Student Lifecycle area within The Registry. Our primary focus is to support our students, academic Colleges and College Registry teams in meeting their regulatory requirements in managing the student record, student finance, their status and progression at the university.

We handle some 30,000 students per year on undergraduate, postgraduate, research, partnerships and online programmes to name a few.  This division will work closely with College Registry teams and govern the process of student records and fees/funding management, assessment and awards as well as directly manage the Research Office.  Organisation and delivery of enrolment, examinations, awards and graduation ceremonies is also handled by this area.

Working together with colleagues in academic colleges and professional services, we aim to provide a high-quality user experience for students and staff who support the student journey (admission to graduation).  We are committed to excellence and continuous improvement in all that we do and aim to provide a service that is fair, compliant, professional and dynamic.

You will dynamically lead and manage the Student Records & Awards Office and Research Office and work closely with key stakeholders to ensure a process of fair and compliant records, fees/funding, exams, assessment, awards and graduation management at the University.  You will be an authoritative influence internally and an active participant/influencer in key external groups/forums and take the lead on institutional liaison with relevant organisations and representative bodies.

Student Lifecycle staff will display positive attitudes, behaviours and attributes which support excellence, innovation and achievement.

The post holder will develop and maintain the Registry professional standards, actively engaging in Continual Professional Development and adopting good practice from the sector.
