The department is a thriving space for study, research and public engagement with a strong focus on applied politics. It is also globally recognised for its work in European politics and on international intervention. The department is a leading centre for research in European and British politics and has a growing reputation in the area of international security and intervention. You will develop the research activities in political science such as Negotiations and Lobbying in Politics, Public Affairs and European (additional areas or policy specialisms are welcome), and undertake research of the highest international standing to advance the research environment of the Department, complementing and expanding existing research strengths in terms of substantive focus and methodological approach. In addition, you will attract and secure significant research funds and contribute significantly in the next REF Departmental submission.
Supporting teaching activities will be a key area, and you will contribute to the design and delivery of teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate level, including the provision of lectures, seminars, and tutorials, and supervision of dissertations.
Applicants must be able to demonstrate a proven track record of management and leadership qualities at a senior level, an established publication profile of international calibre, high quality teaching and supervision of undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral students and a successful and sustained external funding record.
In return, we offer a small, friendly department, and a personalised and supportive working environment. We will encourage you to build your team, take advantage of professional and personal development opportunities and take your own research agenda forwards. You will really be able to make a mark.
