The Role
Working across the South West with properties in Cardiff, Bristol, Bath Portsmouth, Southampton and Bournemouth the Student Services and Welfare Manager provides advice, guidance and direct support to city teams in managing the breadth of student wellbeing issues. They are the primary advisor on maintaining best practice, legal compliance and consistency throughout the region.
What You`ll Be Doing
- Providing leadership, expertise and direction to the Regional team to create a culture of continuous improvement and innovation in the delivery of student wellbeing support in line with the Student Services Framework and relevant strategies
- Ensuring a high professional standard of case management across the region
- Ensuring that all student-facing employees are able to escalate student wellbeing concerns appropriately
- Establishing and maintaining excellent working relationships with student services professionals in universities and relevant community organisations, including participation in multi-stakeholder committees
- Supporting the Head of Operations to build greater awareness of student wellbeing issues across the region, including sharing data and learnings, updating on new policy and cascading training as required
What We Look For In You
- A good working knowledge of the issues facing students
- The ability to empathise with a variety of welfare issues and understand the impact these issues have on university students
- Experience of implementing and/or managing a service for young people (18-25)
- Strong communication, engagement and influencing skills
- A passion for excellence, and a demonstratable commitment to achieving high standards
