The University Secretary is responsible for the effective governance of the University and for its professional services. The University Secretary’s Office supports the University Secretary to enable the smooth running of the administration of the university, engaging with all areas of the University. The University Secretary’s Office manages the University’s governance and ensures that the regulatory conditions required by the Office for Students in England, the funding bodies and other regulators in the UK nations and beyond are met.

The role
Are you passionate about upholding the rights of individuals in an increasingly digital world? Are you looking for an opportunity to further develop your leadership skills?
The Open University is recruiting a Head of Information Rights to ensure that the University fulfils its statutory obligations under the Data Protection Act 2018 and the Freedom of Information Act 2000 to a high standard.
The postholder will manage a small team to deliver on statutory requirements, supporting the rights of individuals and using continuous improvement to enhance the University’s maturity in this important area of compliance.

Skills and experience
• Do you have a good working knowledge of UK GDPR, the Data Protection Act 2018 and the Freedom of Information Act 2000?
• Can you demonstrate a strong track record of managing a team to collectively deliver to shared objectives, with proven experience of working flexibly to accommodate changing priorities?
• Do you have experience of working collaboratively across boundaries to secure buy-in and create solutions that work for all stakeholders?
