(Fixed Term Contract, 24 months)

The University of Law (ULaw) is one of the world’s largest law schools. With an impressive history dating back to 1876, we employ over 900 staff and have over 14,000 students studying on our undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, along with an alumni network in excess of 100,000. We were the first-ever independent institution to be granted degree awarding powers and in 2012 we gained university title. With a rich heritage and a reputation for innovation and contemporary teaching practices, we continuously focus on developing the best legal and business minds. In 2016, we opened our leading Business School, further enhancing our reputation as a full-service legal, business and educational training specialist, operating from campuses throughout the UK, Berlin and Hong Kong and an Online campus.

What really sets us apart from other universities is the guiding principle that future lawyers and business leaders should learn in a realistic, professional and contemporary context, with plenty of practical interactive engagement. That’s why we keep our contact hours high and our teaching groups small.

We are going through an exciting period of growth, offering our students more flexible ways to study with us, and are recruiting for a Regulatory Returns Manager to support accurate and timely reporting of our student data to our regulators (OfS, HESA and relevant PSRBs) on a two-year fixed-term contract. The role will work with stakeholders across the university to develop an understanding of the higher education data landscape, with a particular focus on ensuring the university captures relevant data at the appropriate points of the student lifecycle.

This role will work across the full range of the university’s activity including assessment results and access and participation. The post holder will assure the quality and completeness of student data for both internal reporting and statutory returns. You will also be expected to be a source of expertise on regulatory returns advising on the impact of new developments within our programme offer.

Reporting to the Head of Regulatory Reporting & Data Analysis you will work as part of the central Registry department. The role will work with the Data Analysis Manager, members of the IT department and wider Registry team as required. The role can be based at any of the University’s UK campuses with travel between campuses as required in line with government guidance on public health.

The successful candidate will bring their understanding of databases, and preferably student record systems. You will have experience in working in HE, with an understanding of the regulatory role of data. You will utilise your excellent communication skills to explain the technicalities of data and its onward uses to the staff at all levels of the University. An ability to manage multiple projects and competing deadlines is a must.

We offer an excellent range of competitive benefits including a generous annual leave allowance, private medical scheme, contributory pension scheme, life assurance, training and qualifications, and travel loans.

Please note, CVs will not be considered and only application forms are accepted for this role.

For an informal discussion about the role please contact Adam Campbell, Head of Regulatory Data Analysis & Reporting (adam.campbell@law.ac.uk).

No agencies, please.

Some posts within the University are subject to a DBS check – you will be notified of this during the application process.

As an equal opportunities employer, we welcome applications from all suitably qualified persons. However, as Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) individuals are currently under-represented within the University – which does not reflect our diverse student body – we would particularly welcome applications from BAME candidates. All appointments will be made on merit.
