We need to be constantly alert and responsive to the changing economic and policy environment.   The post of Policy and Strategy Manager (1 FTE of a 1.6 FTE job share) is an exciting opportunity to contribute to strategy development, regulatory compliance and policy implementation in a complex organisation, suiting an ambitious deliverer with experience of strategy implementation in a regulated industry.

This role is part of a total role of 1.6 FTE job share role  – the total FTE has recently been expanded due to an awareness of the increase in policy, strategy and compliance work in universities, as the higher education sector takes stock after two years operating as an industry regulated by the Office for Students.

You will be delivering a range of strategic, implementation and compliance work  – working to align actions and processes to deliver our university strategy, while also being aligned to changing policy and regulatory requirements.

 

The Policy and Strategy Manager will:

  • Work closely with the 0.6 FTE post holder
  • Support the delivery of policy analysis and policy alignment
  • Design and lead policy alignment and strategic projects
  • Support KPI/target development, and action plans to deliver KPIs, across academic and professional units, in line with university strategy
  • Support the planning process to deliver strategic aims of the university
  • Monitor regulatory compliance and undertake projects to deliver actions required for regulatory compliance
  • Support evaluation of projects/data in line with regulatory requirements

 

Requirements for the role:

  • Educated to degree level (E)
  • Experience of strategy development, project management and/or regulatory compliance (E)
  • Understanding of policy alignment  and/or compliance monitoring within a regulated sector, ideally Higher Education (E)
  • Ability to understand and use statistical data (E)
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with proven experience of reporting up to senior management, preferably board level (E)
  • Excellent networking and stakeholder management skills (E)
  • Strong IT and presentational skills  (E)
  • Experience of working in Higher Education (D)
  • Experience of policy and/or project evaluation (D)
