Students’ Union UCL is an organisation that exists to make more happen. We are the representative body for University College London’s (UCL) students, one of the most diverse student communities in the world. UCL students have the potential to do anything, and the Union leads an essential role in helping them to achieve things they may have never thought possible. As a charity we employ over 80 full-time staff and deliver a wide range of services and representative functions for students.
The Representation & Democracy Manager will develop and deliver strategies to attract and empower student leaders to ensure that they have the best opportunity to influence decision-makers and the world around them. You will work to ensure we have democratic structures which are efficient, integral and relevant to our membership. We have one of the largest student representation networks with over 2000 reps working each day to make more happen for students at UCL. You’ll lead the team to support our network of passionate and committed student leaders. No two months will be same, and you’ll be an essential part of what we can achieve for our members in the future.
You’ll work closely with student leaders to ensure that the interests of students are considered in all decisions that affects their lives. You’ll work in partnership with the institution to develop a strong and pervasive culture of student leadership across UCL, enabling students to feel a key and integral part of our university community as full partners in the future of UCL.
The successful applicant will be passionate about supporting and developing volunteers to ensure that we truly represent the diversity of our membership. You’ll be organised and resourceful, able to operate in a fast paced and changing environment. You’ll be empathetic to students and have an empowering, inclusive and supporting approach to managing volunteers. You’ll lead and manage others to develop themselves and achieve impactful results. You’ll have a strong commitment to working in a student-driven and democratic organisation.
