As an Academic Adviser within the Student Support & Advice team you will deliver high quality, accurate and personalised academic advice and guidance to staff and students across the University. You will be responsible for delivering complex advice, for resolving challenging and high stakes issues for students and for making decisions on critical matters associated with progression and outcomes.

The Academic Adviser will also be responsible for disseminating expert knowledge of student policy and regulations across the institution and for taking institutional leadership of academic advice matters. This post is critical for managing student retention and progression and you will work closely with academic and professional services staff across the university to deliver activities that improve student progression and continuation and enhance the student experience.

About you

The successful candidate will be committed to providing a high quality and personalised support and customer service to students. They will have demonstrable knowledge and experience of providing academic advice to students within an education environment with experience of identifying issues and possible solutions, assessing options and making recommendations. The successful candidate will have proven experience of providing clear information to a range of audiences and the ability to convey technical or complex information effectively.

In addition, the successful candidate will have good interpersonal skills, the ability to build and maintain constructive working relationships and will be able to deal with, and support others in dealing with, complex, challenging or difficult situations.

Qualifications

Essential:

Honours degree or equivalent experience

Desirable:

Postgraduate qualification in a relevant subject area
