Summary
Sunderland SU exists to support the 20,000 students at the University of Sunderland to make the time spent at university valuable for life. We recognise that every student is different, whilst sharing a vision that all students not only get the most out of their course, but also out of the whole University of Sunderland experience, and are provided with opportunities to grow, develop and achieve.
We are very excited to be looking for our next Chief Executive, who can support our elected officers in leading Sunderland Students’ Union to implement a new strategic plan; bringing the vision and ambition that will enable us to build on our strong foundations and positive culture, and become a leading students’ union.
Job Description
Our new Chief Executive will help to maintain our excellent relationship with the University of Sunderland, whilst developing new and existing strategic partnerships in the community and empowering our elected student leaders to represent the voice of students.
The successful candidate will be an empowering and supportive leader, with the skills and ability to develop and implement an ambitious strategy and vision. You’ll be prepared to commit to the SU’s long-term development, have an ability to build and nurture a culture of support, trust and transparency and provide high levels of coaching to both student leaders and colleagues. You will be able to demonstrate strong relationship-building skills and bring to the role an entrepreneurial and innovative approach to taking the Union from ‘good’ to ‘great’.
Your experience may have been gained within the Higher Education sector, but we are also interested in candidates from other sectors and backgrounds who are motivated to drive effectiveness in a student-led organisation, and can demonstrate a strong understanding of, and interest in, student voice and representation.
This is a unique opportunity to lead an organisation that has a truly exciting future ahead, in a city with masses of potential. We really hope you’ll want to join our passionate student leaders, dedicated staff team and supportive trustee board on our journey to become an exceptional students’ union.
