With a refreshed academic strategy, a strong financial platform, an award-winning estate, and ambitious investment plans, few universities could be better placed to succeed.

About the role

As Head of Student Data and Records Management, we will look to you to lead the Student Data and Records Management function within the Education Services department.  You will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of student records and data management, ensuring that work is undertaken as efficiently and effectively as possible, that the highest standards of data quality and integrity are established and maintained, and that an excellent service is provided to students, staff and other stakeholders. You will oversee the work of three teams: Student Records Operations, Student Data Quality and Reporting, and Student Engagement Management – working closely with team managers, members of the Education Services Leadership Team and the academic community.

In the context of the vision and strategy for the Education Services department, you will be responsible for developing a sector-leading approach to the management of student-related data that supports the University’s strategic objectives and leverages a wide range of current and new business systems. You will be expected to deliver a strong focus on the continuous improvement of services, processes and systems.  In addition, you will be responsible for co-ordinating the relationship the Education Services department has with one academic Department.

About you

To be successful in this role we will need you to have:

  • experience of leading, managing and developing professional services support for student data and records management;
  • comprehensive knowledge of the practical, regulatory, and GDPR considerations around the management of student data;
  • experience of implementing and maintaining a comprehensive approach to managing data quality, including internal and external management reporting;
  • experience of working with a wide range of external partners and stakeholders;
  • a strong and demonstrable commitment to providing an excellent experience for students and the wider University community;
  • a track record of innovation and excellence in service delivery, and of adjusting services and processes at pace to meet changing requirements;
  • proven ability to lead large teams and to inspire and motivate others to succeed.

Manchester Metropolitan University is committed to supporting the rights, responsibilities, dignity, health and wellbeing of staff and students through our commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion.

We promote applications from all sections of the community, irrespective of background, belief or identity, recognising the benefits that a diverse organisation can bring. We particularly encourage applications from Black and Minority Ethnic candidates, who we recognise are underrepresented in this area.

Hybrid working is offered for this role.  The nature of the role requires presence on campus at certain times of year, but at other times you will be able to complete some work remotely. We recognise the benefits and importance of an environment that supports flexible working and are open to conversations throughout the application process.
