The Public Affairs team connect Imperial with key stakeholders – locally, regionally, nationally and internationally. They ensure that the College has a voice in important public policy debates and keep colleagues informed on important policy and political developments.
Duties and responsibilities
The Public Affairs team are seeking an exceptional External Affairs Officer. You will develop and deliver political and parliamentary stakeholder engagement for the College and play a key role in engaging with policymakers, civil servants, politicians and other key stakeholders.
You will develop and deliver a variety of public affairs projects to inform decision makers and influence policy and conduct research and analysis into the public affairs and policy landscape, develop policy proposals and prepare communications, reports and policy briefings for internal and external audiences.
You will be joining a friendly team, with a varied and challenging remit across the public affairs and policy arena; and will advise and support on wider campaign and initiatives to support the team.
Essential requirements
You will have experience of working in a policy or public affairs environment and establishing and managing effective relationships with external stakeholders and a good understanding of how government works, and the policymaking and legislative processes, having gained experience in similar roles such as parliamentary or stakeholder engagement officer or policy and public affairs officer.
You will be able to convey messages in a clear and compelling way, tailored to the audienc, and have excellent standards of accuracy, consistency and attention to detail. You will also have excellent interpersonal and organisational skills. You have a proactive “can do” approach to work and are capable of working quickly and effectively as well as collaboratively as part of a tightly knit team.
