We seek a strategic leader to drive Vitae’s membership subscription, community development, communications, and events. Delivering an international growth and retention strategy for Vitae membership, the post holder will be a visible and trusted voice for Vitae in policy and practice relating to research culture and researcher development. You will have substantial experience of working with universities in the UK and internationally in relation to researcher, staff or career development, plus experience of building engagement strategies.

Being a visible and trusted voice for Vitae in policy and practice relating to research culture and researcher development.
Vitae is a non-profit programme managed by the Careers Research & Advisory Centre (CRAC) Limited, an educational charity based in Cambridge. Vitae works with researchers and researcher developers in the UK and internationally to promote, develop, deliver and evidence the career and professional development of researchers. Our mission is to enable people to realise their career potential by helping them to develop and access the necessary knowledge, understanding and skills. Vitae works in 23 different countries with over 200 different institutions and governments in areas such as research and innovation, training and resources, events and consultancy.
The CRAC Board has recently agreed to substantial investment in the future direction of the charity and with the global focus on people and culture, it is an excellent time to join us and make a difference in the career and professional development of all researchers.
Main responsibilities:
- Lead and deliver Vitae’s membership strategy for growth and retention 2022-2025, working with the Senior Management Team (SMT) and colleagues across the organisation
- Deliver agreed on growth targets, contracts, and commitments leading coordination of internal and external resources, gathering evidence of reach and impact and providing regular reporting to senior management, the CRAC Board and the community
- Lead Vitae’s annual international conference and programme of events
- Ensure effective and engaging communications internally and externally including to the community, associates, partners, and suppliers
- Drive interactions with policy and policymakers for research culture and researcher development in the UK and beyond
- Contribute to Vitae’s position as a thought-leader of researcher development globally
- Manage others to achieve their objectives and targets, and drive a culture of continuous improvement
- Monitoring and report on financial and other measures of success to SMT and the Board
- Build and sustain relationships with stakeholders, representing Vitae and CRAC as well as providing expert input, in a range of strategic partnerships, projects, committees, and contracts
- Work with SMT and the Board to enhance the sustainability of the organisation by developing new products and services, securing new business, and through best use of resources and expertise
