University Alliance is looking for a dynamic person to support the day-to-day engagement, development and delivery of the Doctoral Training Alliance (DTA) training programme for doctoral researchers and supervisors across a national network of c20 universities.
The Programme Engagement, Training & Development Manager will work closely with the Head of Doctoral Training and all members of the DTA Team as well as Student Reps and researcher development leads from partner universities to ensure that a successful and effective programme is delivered to the UK and EU standards of researcher development.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is interested in developing their experience and understanding of researcher engagement and development within a supportive and collaborative environment, learning from and sharing best practice within a network of peers, as well as utilising their excellent administrative skills. Previous experience of university engagement and researcher development will be beneficial, but is not a requirement of the post.
Key responsibilities include
• Oversee the administration of the annual DTA Elective programme, which will include physical and online events and activities including annual residential event(s);
• Act as first point of contact for researchers and their supervisors, maintaining contact details, building rapport, engaging and motivating them;
• Support for the DTA Student Rep Committee in its activities, including reports and meetings with DTA management and training sessions where appropriate;
• Secretariat support for DTA National Management and DTA Training Groups, including scheduling network meetings, production of agenda, papers and minute taking;
• Ensure appropriate representation of the DTA Student Reps throughout the DTA governance structure;
• Supporting the annual evaluation process including preparation of the annual review reports and all evaluation activities including online surveys and focus groups;
• Manage the DTA social media channels and DTA website content.
About you
• Experience of organising a programme of events, both small and large scale.
• Understanding and experience of planning, facilitating, evaluating and developing training activities.
• Demonstrable experience of facilitating training and delivering presentations.
• Understanding of postgraduate researcher skills development.
• Highly organised with good attention to detail – will deliver to deadlines
• High level of Microsoft Office proficiency including video conferencing such as MS Teams or Zoom.

Principal location of work: UA operates an agile working model where staff have the option to work remotely with occasional access to a Central London ‘touchdown’ space for times when physical presence is required or preferred for performing job roles. (For further details, see JD)
