Murray Edwards College was founded in 1954 as a college for women students at the University of Cambridge. Comprising of 63 Fellows, around 550 undergraduate postgraduate students, and a dedicated team of 120 professional staff, Murray Edwards is a college for women with ambition, committed to furthering academic excellence and gender equality. We are an open and inclusive community where we champion women’s status in society and the workplace as well as sharing women’s views on major societal issues. The pursuit of intellectual excellence is coupled with a broad range of activities that develop the whole individual. We are also proud to be the home of the Women’s Art Collection, the largest collection of art by women in Europe.
We now seek to appoint a new Senior Tutor as a member of our leadership team. We seek to enhance our academic performance through advancing excellence and innovation across all disciplines, in an inclusive, fulfilling and supportive context. With responsibility for the provision of academic excellence across undergraduate and postgraduate learning and teaching, the Senior Tutor also oversees pastoral support and guidance for students. Leading a team of academics and professional service colleagues (including dedicated posts for admissions, well-being and outreach), the Senior Tutor liaises with colleagues across the collegiate system and wider University. Reporting to the College President Dorothy Byrne, the Senior Tutor will be an influential and credible advocate, bringing analysis and insight to all academic matters.
It is an exciting time to join Murray Edwards: impactful new strategic initiatives on well-being, student development and widening participation are being developed to strengthen the delivery of our core academic purpose. We seek an outstanding individual, with a strong personal academic record, who combines drive and clear vision, with high levels of interpersonal, management and organisational skills. This position has the opportunity to make a major contribution to strengthening Murray Edwards as a place of academic excellence and choice.
Applications will close at Sunday 6th November 12pm GMT.
