The Faculty of Humanities is the University of Manchester’s largest Faculty, with over 20,000 students studying both on campus and via distance learning, and nearly 2,000 academic and professional services staff.

The post of Strategic Planning and Change Manager is a key role that will directly help the Faculty achieve its ambitions. This post is part of the Dean’s Office team and will liaise extensively with the Faculty’s academic and professional services leadership team, working with other Faculties, and with the University’s central directorates as part of a wider planning team. This role will take the lead on developing and implementing the Faculty’s strategic plans and will guide the Faculty with establishing operational priorities and the Faculty’s accountability processes. This role will also lead a small team of data analysts, providing reporting, analysis, and insight to support key strategic decision making for our senior leadership teams. As the Faculty transitions through our strategic plan, this role will help coordinate and administer a portfolio of projects designed to support the process and organisational change required to be successful.

The successful candidate will be proactive, innovative and have superior communications and influencing skills, enabling effective relationships with a wide variety of staff. They will have experience of strategy formulation and implementation and be able to manage projects as well as effectively lead a team. The role holder will be able to think critically, support long-term planning, incorporating horizon-scanning for key influences on the Higher Education sector to optimise opportunities and minimise potential threats in order to help guide the Faculty toward further success.
