Chief Executive Officer

Salary: £76,000 to £84,000 p/a (plus relocation allowance of up to £8,000)

Location: Manchester

Contract: Full Time- 37 hours per week

The Union, Manchester Metropolitan is an independent education charity led by, and for, students.

The Union is central to the University experience and works to support all aspects of student life for the 37,000 students studying at Manchester Met University. Located in a friendly and cultured city, we are an ambitious and diverse organisation, committed to supporting every student at Manchester Met in achieving personal success.

The University prides itself on delivering an education that is student-centred, inclusive, diverse and industry-led, while also conducting world class research. We run a variety of services including sports clubs, societies, change campaigns, volunteering opportunities, student representation and an advice service. We also host a number of events in our conferencing facilities and operate a bar, shop, pub and coffee shops, as well as study rooms that students can book.

About the role

Our next CEO will be someone who excels at building relationships and partnerships. You will need be ambitious for our future and have creative ideas for how we can continue to develop and grow our impact. You’ll also need to be an inclusive and empowering leader. In particular, you’ll be able to work well with student leaders providing support, guidance and development, as well as being able to challenge at the right times.

The successful candidate won’t necessarily need to come from the Higher Education sector, but you must be able to demonstrate a good understanding of the trends and issues that affect our students. You’ll have a good understanding of charity governance, financial management and organisational development.
